Cool Cola
Project Overview
Cool-cola is an off-brand version of Coca-Cola. I created a motion graphic along the lines of the Coca-Cola ad created by Levi Dewitt. I made all of the graphics myself using Adobe Illustrator. This animated ad is graphic-based, with minimal typography at the end.
Creative Design
The animated ad has muted coloring in the 'home office' scene with bold coloring in the 'beach' scene with red, white, and black coloring at the end. I wanted a noticeable change in feel between the 'home office' scene and the 'beach' scene, shown with the colors and the audio. I used simple graphics to make the overall message clear but not over-detailed. the typography at the end should give a clear message of the video. The ad should appear visually appealing to everyone who watches to entice them to purchase a Cool Cola.
Software Used
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe After Effects
Target Audience
This project aimed to target people ages 13-45 who are interested in animated ads or who like to drink pop/soda.
Project Goals
This project expanded my knowledge of Adobe After Effects. I learned the importance of scale and proportion, especially with people and objects. I also learned the importance of scaling and zooming to keep the movement entertaining for the audience and to help highlight the areas I wanted the audience to be focused on.

Problem Solving
Throughout the process, I made a lot of changes. The initial direction was followed, but some scenes looked different from what I had initially sketched. Originally, I wanted to have the 'home office' scene and 'beach' scene to both have the person sitting in a chair, yet with this being my first project animating people, getting the person to look correct when sitting was not working once I had everything else put together. When thinking about the amount of movement, I felt there would not be enough with only the keyboard movements in the beginning, and they can slide at the end. So, to add more, I added the foot tap and the head tilt for the clock in the first scene, the ball bouncing and the surfboard move in the 'beach' scene, and finally, the more dramatic movement of the can into the transition of the logo in the final scene.
